Former Wales star Andy Powell was given an icy welcome when arirved for training with London Wasps by being plunged into temperatures of minus 130oC.
The former Cardiff Blues star spent time in a super-cold cryotherapy chamber as he started his London Wasps career.
It will be a long time before Powell's antics of driving a stolen golf buggy on the M4 will be forgotten but London Wasps are just hoping that they can get the best out of a player with the X Factor according to head coach Shaun Edwards.
"If he can keep injury free, then if there is any club where he will shine at then it's Wasps, where we treat our players as individuals," said Edwards, who is also Wales defence coach.
"We don't try to make them conform and be exactly the same, although we have to implement some rules like turning up on time and wearing the right gear.
"I am hoping he will flourish in this kind of environment, plus he has that something extra about his play - that X-factor - to complement the guys who are toiling away hitting 100 rucks a match. As a result, he can create something out of nothing.
"We tell a player that when he joins this club the slate is wiped clean and it all starts again. "
"We are not going to be too judgmental about what has happened in the past." he told the Evening Standard.
Powell's fall from grace happened after Wales had beaten Scotland last season and was arrested by police while steering the 20mph vehicle down the hard shoulder.
He was temporarily dropped from the Wales squad and then Cardiff Blues released him from the last two years of his contract.
Powell had extended talks with Agen and a suggestion he would follow Gareth Thomas, the former Lions and Wales captain, into rugby league with Celtic Crusaders.
London Wasps however came up with a one-year deal in which Powell can rebuild his reputation starting with the club's nine-day training camp in Spala, Poland.
Edwards was part of the Wales management that gave Powell his first Test cap in 2008 and he was able to convince Wasps director of rugby Tony Hanks to give him a chance with Wasps.
If Powell does well in the Premiership he will be offered an extension to his contract.
Only time will tell if Edwards is proved right but there is one thing on which he is sure. He said: "As far as what happened with the buggy, there are not many golf courses in Acton where we train and so we should be all right!"
